Jack Canfield the co-author (together with Mark Victor Hansen) of The best-selling book "Chicken Soup for the Soul" said in an interview that many famous authors faced a lot of rejections before they became best-selling authors. He said: "I think Alex Haley had over 200 rejections, and Louis L'Amour, who is a famous western writer, had certainly more than that".

But they all became best-selling authors in the end. In fact The "Chicken Soup for the Soul" has sold more than 100 millions copies and translated into 54 language worldwide, but Jack Canfield & Mark Viktor Hansen was rejected by 123 publishers before they found a publisher who was willing to publish their book.

The first time they went to New York, they visited about a dozen publishers in a two day period with their agent, and nobody wanted it. They all said it was a stupid title, that nobody bought collections of short stories, that there was no edge--no sex, no violence. Why would anyone read it?

They then visited another 22 publishers and they all turned them down. After all these rejections their agent said: "Sorry boys, I can't sell it".

Jack Canfield & Mark Victor Hansen never gave up. They knew they could just break free from all these rejections if they kept at it and they did. Whenever they got rejected they said to themselves: "Stick with it!"
