Some define it as a strong feeling or emotion - a trait of being intensely emotional
It is all about having a BURNING DESIRE for something - to learn a skill, to find the ideal partner, to start a business, to help other people..
Because we probably would have found the reason why we came here to Earth...
When you love what you do with all your heart you are one with your higher self. When you fall in love with an idea it becomes your passion. It is the Devine Operation expressing itself through you.
You are creating for yourself and for others. Your burning desire will benefit everyone since you love it so much. It is an expression from the inner world like Thomas Troward so beautifully put it:
My mind is a center of Divine operation. The Divine operation is always for expansion and fuller expression and this means the production of something beyond what has gone before, something entirely new, not included in past experience, though proceeding out of it by an orderly sequence of growth. Therefore, since the Divine cannot change its inherent nature, it must operate in the same manner in me; consequently in my special world, of which I am the center, it will move forward to produce new conditions, always in advance of any that have gone before

People are brought up believing that we should go to school, study hard, find suitable work and work hard until we retired. Then we finally can fulfill our dreams - do the things we love all the time. However by that time some people have died, others have lost their health and some have lost the appetite for life.
As such we should all be encouraged to find what we truly love to do early on in life. We must find our passion. However we are not being encouraged. Instead most people are following the recipe that get us caught up in the rat race.
How many people wake up to their alarm clocks to go to work only to spend yet another day earning money doing something they don«t love 100%?
Unfortunately most people do not love their work. They do it for the money - to pay off the mortgages, to pay the bills, to support their families.
Its understandable because no-one told them that they should follow their passion - no-one encouraged them to pursue what they really love doing - to follow their passion.
Instead most people are brought up to follow the "rat race recipe". Get yourself a decent education so you can earn some good money or get yourself a job to pay for the bills. Get a flat and a house and pay off the mortgage in 20 year back payment plan.
When you ask people if they really would like to do something else than what they currently do now - the majority say yes.
Just ask colleagues where you work. If they won 10 millions dollars in the lottery would they still be working at the same place having the same job and doing the same work?
We all came here to find our life«s purpose - to find our passion which will help ourselves and everyone we get in contact with.
Some people just feel deep inside that they should follow what they truly love from an early age on. They just know it or feel it is the right thing to do.
In 2005 he held a GREAT speech at Commencement Day at Stanford University. Drawing from some of the most pivotal points in his life, he urged graduates to pursue their dreams...
In his speech he is sharing with us 3 stories from his life. His key message is:
Follow your curiosity, your intuition, your heart - your dreams..and trust that it will work out.
In the video-clip we hear Steve Jobs talking about trust:
you have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma whatever..because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well worn path - and that will make all the difference
May 2nd 2009 he held a powerful speech at the Commencement Day at University of Michigan.
In the video below you will hear him talking about grabbing those great dreams that comes to you.
You know what it's like to wake up in the middle of the night with a vivid dream? And you know how, if you don't have a pencil and pad by the bed to write it down, it will be completely gone the next morning?
Well, I had one of those dreams when I was 23. When I suddenly woke up, I was thinking: what if we could download the whole web, and just keep the links and......
I grabbed a pen and started writing! Sometimes it is important to wake up and stop dreaming. I spent the middle of that night scribbling out the details and convincing myself it would work. Soon after, I told my advisor, Terry Winograd, it would take a couple of weeks to download the web - he nodded knowingly, fully aware it would take much longer but wise enough to not tell me. The optimism of youth is often underrated! Amazingly, I had no thought of building a search engine. The idea wasn't even on the radar. But, much later we happened upon a better way of ranking webpages to make a really great search engine, and Google was born. When a really great dream shows up, grab it!
When you find your passion - your life's purpose - trust the universe to help you out and it will.
We are all part of a universe where everything has its own vibrational frequency and when you love what your are doing you are sending out a very powerful signal and the universe will respond.
People who have a passion do succeed since they love what they do - they can't stop thinking about their passion. It is part of them day and night - it«s who they are - and what they are all about.
Nothing can stand in their way. They never quit because they know that they will succeed if they keep at it - they have the DESIRE, the PERSISTENCE and they TAKE ACTION because they love what they do. They want things to work out. They are creating for themselves and for others and this is what being here is all about.
Napoleon Hills book Think and Grow Rich is an incredible book looking into why people succeed or fail. It's all about have a BURNING DESIRE (passion) for what you do, it's about PERSISTENCE - never giving up and it's about taking ACTION when opportunity knocks.
To quote Winston Churchill with regards to Persistence: "Never, never, never give up"
PASSION together with a stamina NEVER TO QUIT and a WILL to TAKE ACTION is the success formula to reach any goal you set for yourself.
This formula has been used by all great people who have ever lived. One of them was Thomas Edison. He had a burning desire to invent the first ever incandescent electric light bulb. In attempting to do so he never, ever quit. He tried and tried and failed and failed time after time. According to Napoleon Hill who met Mr.Edison on many occasions he "failed" ten thousand times in his attempt to invent the incandescent electric light bulb, but in the end he succeeded because he knew there was a solution. HE NEVER QUIT.
He often went to the "land of solutions" when he wanted to get inspired. He would meditate - quiet his mind and let the answers come to him ( he was going into what we now know as Alpha brainwave levels)
PERSISTENCE is a very important ingredient if one wants to succeed.
"Sometimes life is going to hit you in the head with a brick - don't loose faith"
This is a quote from Steve Jobs after he was fired from Apple. A company he started. It was a huge blow, but this lead him onto start two other very successful companies: Next and Pixar. Later Apple bought Next and Steve Jobs was back and the rest is history.
He was convinced that THE ONLY THING which kept him going was that he LOVED what he was doing.
He never lost his PASSION
You got to find what you love and that is a true for work as it is for your lovers
... if you haven't found it yet keep looking - don't settle. As with all matters of the heart you know when you have found it
Yes, this is true. Keep looking - don't settle.
He goes on to say:
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking.
Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
A BURNING DESIRE will get you out of the comfort zone. PERSISTENCE will get you going and ACTION will make you get one step closer to your goal.
This formula for success works for every single person on this planet. It not reserved for a few selected people.
Think back to when you first learned to walk as a child. Within yourself you had a BURNING DESIRE to learn how to walk. It«s part of our nature. We WANT to learn how to walk.
Then we try, try and try and we NEVER QUIT. Have you every heard of a kid who quit trying to walk? Kids fall down and get right back up again. They are PERSISTENCE just like you and I have been when we were learning how to walk.
AND they take ACTION - they try over and over again with new ways to get up - they hold onto different things to find the balance - and they get closer and closer to their goal.
They are using the SUCCESS formula. We have all used this formula.
However when we grow up we are adopting limiting beliefs about what we can accomplish. We are being influenced by friends, family and society that we are not able to be or have what ever we really want.
AND we don't apply the formula unless we have a BURNING DESIRE for something that we think we can achieve.
Here is an example:
Many young people really WANT to learn how to drive and get a drivers license so they can experience the freedom of driving wherever they want.
They have a BURNING DESIRE to achieve this.
They are PERSISTENCE - they do not quit after the first lesson since they REALLY WANT to learn how to drive.
They keep at it and they TAKE ACTION. They get their mum or dad to give them lessons - they go to driving school and they get closer and closer to their goal of getting their own drivers license.
THEY ARE USING THE FORMULA - just like anyone else did when they learned how to drive.
SO, HOW COME we are not using the formula for success on other areas of our life?
I think the reason is that we are used to be in the comfort zone and getting out of this zone is a bit scary. Also we have a belief system based on what we were told as kids from our mum, dad, friends, teachers, media etc. Very often this belief system is a limiting one. We were raised to think that we can not do anything we want.
The whole world drives so anyone can do that, right? There is no limiting belief system putting me down saying I can't learn how to drive. Anyone can do it.
If the whole world was successful in starting up a business and becoming a millionaire you would think you could do it too.
It's all about your belief system and how you choose to think.
Many people have an OK job, earning OK money, have an OK car, an OK house or flat, take OK vacations and so on, but they really want something more.
They want a bigger house or a better car, they want to earn more money, take better and longer vacations, but they do not GET OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE. They keep finding excuses to stay in the comfort zone. I am not good enough, I do not have the skills, I know what I have and I could loose that if I tried something else and so on. We let FEAR keep us in the comfort zone and we just float along with no real direction in life.
Birds stay in their nest until it's time to get out and fly for the first time. If the nest is too comfortable the bird-parents remove some of the comfort of the nest and the little bird realize it needs to take action and FLY.
We can all FLY out of our own comfort zone, but few people do. Our parents will not remove some of our comfort zone, but PASSION will. If you have a burning desire for something it will get you out of the comfort zone in your life, because you love it so much you just know things will work out - just like Steve Jobs said in his video. Trust that things will work out. Trust the universe. One of the greatest motivational speakers in the world did just that. Les Brown trustet the universe. See a preview of his story. The Les Brown Story - Life Lessons from the Man Behind the Motivation
No, this is NOT true
We are ALL special - we are ALL unique. The only difference is that these people use the success formula.
They have changed their thinking. They are saying to themselves that they can achieve whatever goal they set out to do. They really want something to happen - they have a PASSION, they have PERSISTENCE and they get out of the comfort zone to TAKE some ACTION. They say: I CAN.
We would never have been introduced to the world of Harry Potter if J.K.Rowling had not been filled with PASSION, PERSISTENCE and ACTION to publish her first book.
She never stopped trying to publish the first Harry Potter book.
The story goes that she went to 14 publishing companies before she was able to get the first book published. She did not quit even though she was turned down time after time. She kept at it believing that her book deserved being published and that it would be.
Now she is one of the richest women in the UK.
There are so many authors who were rejected many times before their book became published. Before he wrote Roots, Alex Haley had received 200 rejections. He never quit - he kept going to a new publisher after each rejection.
Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen wrote "Chicken Soup for the Soul" which has been an incredible success. However, they had to go to 173 different publisher before it became published. For every rejection they kept on going saying to themselves that their book was a bestseller. They knew that they just had to keep going and that at some point someone would say : Yes, we will publish your book".
There are thousands of stories like the one of J.K Rowling, Alex Haley, Jack Canfiled and Mark Viktor Hansen. People who soared to new heights and reached their goals because they used the success formula. People who became unstoppable
AND we CAN ALL apply this formula to our own life.
Find your PASSION, KEEP at it and TAKE ACTION.
