Some define it as a strong feeling or emotion - a trait of being intensely emotional
..an intense emotion compelling feeling, enthusiasm, or desire for anything.
It is all about having a BURNING DESIRE for something - to learn a skill, to find the ideal partner, to start a business, to help other people..
Whatever it is we should all find what we are passionate about. We should find what our BURNING DESIRE in our life is.
Because we probably would have found the reason why we came here to Earth...
When you love what you do with all your heart you are one with your higher self. When you fall in love with an idea it becomes your passion. It is the Devine Operation expressing itself through you.
You are creating for yourself and for others. Your burning desire will benefit everyone since you love it so much. It is an expression from the inner world like Thomas Troward so beautifully put it:
My mind is a center of Divine operation. The Divine operation is always for expansion and fuller expression and this means the production of something beyond what has gone before, something entirely new, not included in past experience, though proceeding out of it by an orderly sequence of growth. Therefore, since the Divine cannot change its inherent nature, it must operate in the same manner in me; consequently in my special world, of which I am the center, it will move forward to produce new conditions, always in advance of any that have gone before
Way too many people are caught up in the Rat Race being too busy to ever find their true passion. I know because I was one of them. I was on auto-pilot from the moment I woke up until I went to bed tired from a hectic workday.
I discovered my passion and quit my job. I was scary, but I have never looked back. Never regretted.
Most of us are brought up to believe that we should go to school, study hard, find suitable work and then work hard until we retire. As retired people we have the freedom to do whatever we want all the time. However, none of us have a contract to live forever. Some people die before the reach the retirement age. Others loose their health during the rat race. And some even loose appetite for life.
Why aren't we being encouraged to find out what we truly love to do early on in life? Why aren«t parents, guardians, schoolteachers and society in general encoruaging us to go inside and listen to our inner thoughts and feelings? Instead most people are encouraged to secure their lives and the most common recipe for this security is to go to school, get an good and secure education that will lead to a secure job. And off we go to the rat race.
How many people wake up to their alarm clocks to go to work only to spend yet another day earning money doing something they don't really love 100%?
Unfortunately most people do not love their work. They do it for the money - to pay off the mortgages, to pay the bills, to support their families.
It«s understandable because no-one told them that they should follow their passion - no-one encouraged them to pursue what they really love doing - to follow their passion.
Instead most people are brought up to follow the "rat race recipe". Get yourself a decent education so you can earn some good money or get yourself a job to pay for the bills. Get a flat and a house and pay off the mortgage in 20 year back payment plan.
When you ask people if they really would like to do something else than what they currently do now - the majority say yes.
Just ask colleagues where you work. If they won 10 millions dollars in the lottery would they still be working at the same place having the same job and doing the same work?
We all came here to find our life«s purpose - to find our passion which will help ourselves and everyone we get in contact with.
Some people just feel deep inside that they should follow what they truly love from an early age on. They just know it or feel it is the right thing to do.
In 2005 he held a GREAT speech at Commencement Day at Stanford University. Drawing from some of the most pivotal points in his life, he urged graduates to pursue their dreams...
In his speech he is sharing with us 3 stories from his life. His key message is:
Follow your curiosity, your intuition, your heart - your dreams..and trust that it will work out.
In the video-clip we hear Steve Jobs talking about trust:
you have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma whatever..because believing that the dots will connect down the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart even when it leads you off the well worn path - and that will make all the difference
May 2nd 2009 he held a powerful speech at the Commencement Day at University of Michigan.
In the video below you will hear him talking about grabbing those great dreams that comes to you.
You know what it's like to wake up in the middle of the night with a vivid dream? And you know how, if you don't have a pencil and pad by the bed to write it down, it will be completely gone the next morning?
Well, I had one of those dreams when I was 23. When I suddenly woke up, I was thinking: what if we could download the whole web, and just keep the links and......
I grabbed a pen and started writing! Sometimes it is important to wake up and stop dreaming. I spent the middle of that night scribbling out the details and convincing myself it would work. Soon after, I told my advisor, Terry Winograd, it would take a couple of weeks to download the web - he nodded knowingly, fully aware it would take much longer but wise enough to not tell me. The optimism of youth is often underrated! Amazingly, I had no thought of building a search engine. The idea wasn't even on the radar. But, much later we happened upon a better way of ranking webpages to make a really great search engine, and Google was born. When a really great dream shows up, grab it!
When you find your passion - your life's purpose - trust the universe to help you out and it will.
We are all part of a universe where everything has its own vibrational frequency and when you love what your are doing you are sending out a very powerful signal and the universe will respond.
People who have a passion do succeed since they love what they do - they can't stop thinking about their passion. It is part of them day and night - it«s who they are - and what they are all about.
Nothing can stand in their way. They never quit because they know that they will succeed if they keep at it - they have the DESIRE, the PERSISTENCE and they TAKE ACTION because they love what they do. They want things to work out. They are creating for themselves and for others and this is what being here is all about. Just like the Make A Ripple e-book will show you.
This formula for success works for every single person on this planet. It not reserved for a few selected people.
Think back to when you first learned to walk as a child. Within yourself you had a BURNING DESIRE to learn how to walk. It«s part of our nature. We WANT to learn how to walk.
Then we try, try and try and we NEVER QUIT. Have you every heard of a kid who quit trying to walk? Kids fall down and get right back up again. They are PERSISTENCE just like you and I have been when we were learning how to walk.
AND they take ACTION - they try over and over again with new ways to get up - they hold onto different things to find the balance - and they get closer and closer to their goal.
They are using the SUCCESS formula. We have all used this formula.
However when we grow up we are adopting limiting beliefs about what we can accomplish. We are being influenced by friends, family and society that we are not able to be or have what ever we really want.
AND we don't apply the formula unless we have a BURNING DESIRE for something that we think we can achieve.
Here is an example:
They have a BURNING DESIRE to achieve this.
They are PERSISTENCE - they do not quit after the first lesson. Why? Because they REALLY WANT to learn how to drive.
They keep at it and they TAKE ACTION. They get parents or relatives to give them lessons. They go to driving school and they get closer and closer to their goal of getting their own license.
THEY ARE USING THE FORMULA
How come we are not using the formula for success on other areas of our lives?
Could it be that we are very comfy in the comfort zone and getting out of this zone is a bit scary?
Also, most people grow up in an environment influencing them with limiting beliefs. Parents, guardians, teachers, media etc. all influence the way we see the world and what we think is true or not. Research shows that we are easily conditoned and influenced in our first 6-7 years of growing up. In other words many people have limiting beliefs stuck in their subconscious mind stopping them from reaching their goals.
However, driving a car is something everyone is doing so this is somehting we are told is acheiveable. But we are told that other goals are not so acheiveable. The funny thing is that it requires the same type of mind power to to reach any other goal as it does getting a drivers license. You just have to think positive and believe you can do it.
If the whole world was successful in starting up a business and becoming a millionaire you would think you could do it too.
It's all about your belief system and how you choose to think.
Many people have an OK job, earning OK money, have an OK car, an OK house or flat, take OK vacations and so on, but they really want something more.
They want a bigger house or a better car, they want to earn more money, take better and longer vacations, but they do not GET OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE. They keep finding excuses to stay in the comfort zone. I am not good enough, I do not have the skills, I know what I have and I could loose that if I tried something else and so on. We let FEAR keep us in the comfort zone and we just float along with no real direction in life.
Birds stay in their nest until it's time to get out and fly for the first time. If the nest is too comfortable the bird-parents remove some of the comfort of the nest and the little bird realize it needs to take action and FLY.
We can all FLY out of our own comfort zone, but few people do. Our parents will not remove some of our comfort zone, but PASSION will. If you have a burning desire for something it will get you out of the comfort zone in your life, because you love it so much you just know things will work out - just like Steve Jobs said in his video. Trust that things will work out. Trust the universe.
No, this is NOT true.
We are ALL special - we are ALL unique. The only difference is that these people use the success formula.
They have changed their thinking. They are saying to themselves that they CAN achieve whatever goal they set out to do. They really want something to happen - they have a PASSION, they have PERSISTENCE and they get out of the comfort zone to TAKE some ACTION. They say: I CAN.
She never stopped trying to publish the first Harry Potter book.
The story goes that she went to 14 publishing companies before she was able to get the first book published. She didn«t quit even though she was turned down time after time. She kept at it believing that her book deserved being published and in the end it was. She is now one of the richest women in the UK, but she never did it for the money. She just wanted to do what she was passionate about - writing.
There are so many authors who were rejected many times before their book became published. Before he wrote Roots, Alex Haley had received 200 rejections. He never quit - he kept going to a new publisher after each rejection.
Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen wrote Chicken Soup for the Soul which has been an incredible success. However, they had to go to 173 different publisher before it became published. For every rejection they kept on going saying to themselves that their book was a bestseller. They knew that they just had to keep going and that at some point someone would say : "Yes, we will publish your book".
AND we CAN ALL apply this formula to our own lives.
Find your PASSION, KEEP at it and TAKE ACTION.
